Making Fun of the President?

by David J. Stewart

"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty." -1st Timothy 2:1-2

It is Wrong to Make Fun of the President

I am totally against those who ridicule and make fun of leadership (whether good or bad leadership).  The Word of God commands us to pray for our government leaders, not make fun of their faults, mistakes, and wrongdoing.  The photo to the right is just one example of thousands of sick jokes on the internet designed to mock and discredit President Bush.

Now I realize that George W. Bush is evil to the core.  I realize that he is NOT a true Christian.  I realize that he is a mass-murdering member of an occult organization, but he is still the president of our nation.  We may not respect Bush at all (which I don't), but we should respect the office of President.

Just as may not like the attitude of some police officers, we should still show them respect by addressing them as authority.  This is Biblical.  Romans 13:1 commands us to "be subject" unto the higher powers, the highest being God.  This does NOT mean that we should tolerate abuse, but it does mean that our general attitude towards authority should be RESPECT.

Yet God Expects Us to Stand Up Against the Evildoers

Please don't misunderstand me, I think we should do everything we can to expose the wickedness in the President's administration.  In fact, God commands us to reprove all works of darkness, "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them."  It is tragic that so many churches are brainwashed as to the blatant evils happening right before our eyes in Washington and abroad.

Most Christians today are blinded by all the lying propaganda.  If you want the truth, then DON'T listen to Fox News, go to www.informationclearinghouse.info or some other alternative source of news.  Most people are just too lazy to put forth the extra effort to learn the truth by reading.  It's so much easier to just plop down on the sofa and watch the Hellivision.  Tragically, many Christians have been duped by false-theology into believing that Christians should have blind loyalty towards all authority.  This is a Devilish lie.

We are commanded in the Word of God to stand up against the evildoers and workers of iniquity...

"Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?" -Psalm 94:16

There is a Vast Difference Between Rebels and Concerned Citizens

The Bible speaks in Jude of those type of people who are rebels and despise ANY authority over them, whether it be parents, a pastor, the police, a boss, or the government.  Jude 1:8-10 reads...

" Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities...But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves."

The Bible is speaking in Jude 1:8-10 of rebels, NOT concerned citizens.  There is a vast difference!  A rebel is always out to get authority.  These are the punk troublemakers who have nothing better to do with their time than to try to tear down while others are trying to build.  God hates rebellion.  However, this is very different from citizens of a nation who pay taxes and are angry because their government leaders are squandering their tax money and attacking their freedoms.

It is our Bill of Rights to petition and protest our U.S. government when we believe they are being unjust.  Tragically, this right is systematically being taken away from us as local law enforcement becomes more federalized (and militarized).  What ever happened to officer friendly?  Now the local police are increasingly looking like Darth Vader thugs.

Every citizen of the United States is protected by the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights.  Sadly, few Christians even know their Bill of Rights, let alone try to defend them.  It is because of this woeful ignorance and apathy that the present White House administration has successfully nullified many of our rights through the Patriot Acts.  We have a duty to defend our own country against the tyrants that lurk within our own government.  This is OUR COUNTRY!

Our government leaders do what they do with OUR money, in OUR name.  WE as Americans are 100% responsible for the tragic deaths of over 100,000 innocent Iraqis who defended their country against coalition terrorists.  We were told that the Taliban in Afghanistan was to blame for 911, then it was Saddam, then it became the Iraqi people, and now it's a global network called Al Qaeda (CIA).  Only a complete fool would accept such lying wonders.  Also read, Fox Lies.   Also read, Ignoring Reality in Iraq by Congressman Ron Paul.
